IGNH General Info & Introduction
|
Greetings Inserters!
Insert Guild Name Here is almost as old as Blackhand itself, founded long ago in the cold winter days of December of 2004. Originally started by Ulric, the reins were passed to Comm a ways back when Ulric was subsumed by Real Life. Now it's run by a Leadership Council, but more about that later. Some of our oldest original members are amazingly still here, but many have moved on to pursue other interests or claim that their present real-life conditions rival the importance of developing the cure to cancer. A larger portion of members active today signed on in 2006-2007 and we've seen some great additions from 2008 and even 2009 as well! The guild has a rich tradition of Excellence by Accident, we essentially get stuff done at our pace and are somehow able to *generally* maintain a group where we have fairly hardcore raiders, but also some very casual types and all profiles in between.
That being said, we have developed a system of raiding over the years that you wouldn't always encounter in a typical guild. It's a crazy, mixed-up jumble from revisions written after we split with Static Alliance during the summer of 2006. The raiding system adapts as needed but it's all pretty much the same. For any of you who feel lost in the process or are simply looking for an answer, you will likely find it here on the forums, and if still in doubt, consider personally whispering an officer or long-time member.

The Culture of IGNH
We're a large guild, that was once a smaller guild. The philosophy is for people to be happy with WoW and continue logging on to see their friends and have fun, whether that comes in the form of raiding, or cutting gems while drunk, or posting dog pr0n on the forum. Many of our members are the best at their class on the server and have the respect of guilds at all levels, combined with a deep knowledge of their class.
We like members who can think for themselves, yet are also flexible to incorporate new practices. To stir the pot is fine, we enjoy some debate, but we don't enjoy drama. Gquitting will never be a weapon in this guild, if you quit, then you've quit. We have members who work 12 hours/day and manage to raid, we have those who go to law school and disappear for years, we have those who get slammed with a bunch of night courses. Still, we try to be as close to a family as it gets in an MMO, and considering it's over 75 active members from all parts of the globe, we do pretty well. Please always consider what you say. If you want to write a particularly heavy post, think on it awhile, talk to a few members... communication is ftw.
Getting to know Today's Leadership
IGNH is currently run via a Leadership Council. Running a guild via Council is usually something people try to dissuade us from doing but it's working for now. Our leadership meetings are rather lengthy and we're not as agile and quick to act as we'd like to be, but we have an enthusiastic and dedicated team of people working their butts off to keep the guild raiding and having fun.
Please also realize that Lune, Rel, Bonch and many of the other leaders are in "Tell Hell" during raids about raid stuff. If you've got something pressing, ping one of them, but if you think it can wait until after the raid, please feel free to let us know that you want us to chat later! Thank you!

The Officers
You don't really want to know everything the officers do but suffice to say our meetings are kinda long.
Iletumi: Our Forum Admin, etc. Most recently, Tumi spearheaded the move to the new web site hosted by Guildomatic! Tumi handles a lot of different stuffs, it's an appropriate role for a druid. Often it comes down to banning spammers from the forum, or figuring out what new info in the next content patch or x-pac we should know about, or posting applications from our mailbox, or just being the IGNHer who has been here since forever and has an excellent grasp on the culture of the guild. He is the technical brain (and time) that keeps the website going.
Relena, Queen of the Penguins: Our Loot Mistress and own, local Lifetime movie. Never talk over her during loot on vent, ever... srsly.
Lunedi: Compulsive organizer, communicator and a default raid leader. If she misses your tell, she's not ignoring you on purpose. She also cringes when you crit the English language with bad grammar.
Prayingbonch: Tankadin force of nature. Beware Bonch's brutal honesty and harsh logic. He is our DKP manager and flask maker as well.
Snowmist: Healer lead, versatile, frank and funny! Snow (or Min) wrangles the healers every raid and for that she deserves a medal! And yes, she's all that plus a great accent!
Retired officers - Nine Old Men
"The Wise Old Men" rank, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney's_Nine_Old_Men. We removed the Advisor rank and replaced it with the NOM rank. The title is a reference to the core group of animators who were involved in Disney's early and famous animated movies. FDR also referred to the Supreme Court as "nine old men" (Walt Disney was actually playing on FDR's turn of phrase) but we're not going to make them wear robes. The NOM rank could also stand for Not-Officery-Maybe. The NOMs have ginvite and demote privs, so they can invite your alts as well as demote you to Time Out! if you're being a smart ass (or got hacked).
Tibeau (Tibault): Our Former Raid Leader. Easily a stressful job between the hours of 6 and 10pm, for which he receives no pay. He's grumpy kids, don't feed the bears! The crown may go to other members of leadership for a raid but we rely on Tib for his guidance and insight even when he's not the leader for the night.
Cartoon (Beta): Quoth Beta himself, "Your resident Forum Troll. I live on this forum. There's rarely a post on this forum I haven't personally read (I'm so fast I even read the ones people post, think about, then delete ). Rarely a time I can't be reached on here within 1 hour via iPhone or otherwise. It's always been my goal to get information where it needs to go- as quickly as it can get there. Recent work scheduling prevents me from raiding regularly, but I keep myself in the loop so feel free to ask any guild questions you have short of very finite strategy." On the leadership team, he's a great support and another perspective and voice in discussions.
